This year we spent Christmas in Pismo Beach with Jeff's family. It was a ton of fun especially for the kids! And by kids, I mean Jeff. He finally got his surf on! Even though I don't get how ice cold water with a wet suit, booties, and a hood is fun, but whatever. Rozzi LOVED playing with her cousins and HATED touching the sand, until she got taught how to make footprints in it. Then it was cool.

Getting Ready for the Holidays

So the lack of blogging has been due to us not being able how to get some funky lock off of our camera for the past 5 months. Well that and pure laziness. But anyway, here's what we've been up to lately-

A trip to Utah for Thanksgiving, which included the Temple Square lights of course. We had a great time and Rozzi had tons of fun with Grandma & Grandpa and her uncles!

Our first year of cutting down our own Christmas tree with our favorite neighbors! This was the most fun I've had in a long time and will definitely be a future tradition.

A bunch of Holiday parties, including a toddler Christmas party Rozzi threw for her friends. I didn't get any pics but thanks to Pinterest for all the fun ideas (and for taking over my life)!

August Adventures - Istanbul

While Jeff was on his "Man Trip", which I will post later, I decided to take a little get away of my own, thanks to some sponsored frequent flyer miles from my hermano! *And can I just say, Business Class is DE-LUX!* So here's the first stop - Istanbul.

7 Down...

That's right. We've been married for 7 whole years! That's a long time. I could have gone to college twice by now. Yikes! But anyway, our anniversary was TOTALLY AWESOME this year! Jeff planned a surprise trip, right down to the babysitting (yes!!!) all by himself! And I had no clue where we were going until we started shopping for tevas, ponchos, headlamps, and waterbottles! What the heck? I was kind of thinking the carribean or something before, but no. Oooooh no. Instead we flew into Phoenix, rented a Jeep (just to make it legit), and drove 4 hours to the end of the Grand Canyon, where we met our personal guide and hiking groupies at this little gem of a motel.....

And don't worry, sleeping in 'til 5:30 turned out to be a luxury on this trip! Ha! But it was seriously worth it. We woke up and drove another hour to the trailhead of Havasupai and hiked down for the next 6 or 7ish hours! By the end of the day we all had wet towels or t-shirts wrapped around our heads to keep us cool. Luckily we had mules carrying our equipment down or I might have passed out!

Day 2 was spent climbing down cliffs, through tunnels and chains, hiking in the river, jumping off waterfalls, and swinging on rope swings. Good times, great oldies.

We took a little trip to Yosemite last weekend with Jeff's family. It was an awesome time to go. The water levels were crazy and the waterfalls and rivers were out of control. One of the hikes we did required ponchos! And we got soaked! It was super fun though.

Nobody had more fun than these two. They're new best buds as you can see by the hand-holding. Rozzi won't let anyone touch her hands and she is very independent, so this was kind of a big deal. (And yes we had a cabin with a shower...kind of cheating, but it was a good first camping experience for Rozzi.)

We took a girls trip to Utah a couple weeks ago, which started with a 10 hour car ride, lots of french fries, too many episodes of baby einstein, and more of Nevada than I care to see. But surprisingly we made it and it wasn't that bad.

Rozzi got to see grandma and grandpa, uncles, great grandparents, cousins, and most importantly the cat.

We took a trip to Hogle Zoo on ~~the only day it wasn't hailing~~ a gorgeous day in Salt Lake.

We had tons of fun! Thanks grandpa and grandma for letting us come!

Or Mother's Day Weekend, as Queso would say. We had a super fun weekend starting out with the cousins sleeping over Friday night. Pizza, popcorn, yoga mat -turned-slip n' slide, and movie included. Rozz even got to stay up til 10! Yikes! And of course there were the delicious treats served in church, which were immediately stolen as seen below. And my personal favorite, the men singing "As Sisters in Zion" in Sacrament meeting! Then we took a drive down to Sacramento and found a random rose garden and took a walk around the park and fed the ducks! It was a fun relaxing weekend!

Wow! Times flies! Here is what the spicy bean looked like one year ago...

And all I can say is this girl is BUSY! This is what I get for trying to do my hair!

Rozzi is turning into quite the talker and is surprisingly a girly little girl. She tries to put on lotion and perfume all the time and loves to push around the swiffer. She was also caught vacuuming in a princess dress and refused to let go of her cousin's purse so we let her sleep with it on her arm all night. She loves pushing her baby around in the stroller too. And she loves chapstick!

She is currently obsessed with cows, cats, and dogs. She can say moo, meow, ruff ruff, baby, mama, dada, out, up, uh-oh, cheese, tub, car, cow, shoe, hi, and bye bye see ya. She loves going down slides and is quite the little daredevil. So there's the latest on our little chica. She's the BEST!

on the beach in Hawaii. Can I just tell you how RE-LAAAAAXXXXXED i feel? WOW! That was good. No kid, no plans, no problems. We just chillllllled. And "The Most Romantic Beach House in Hawaii" that we rented totally lived up to it's name. It was amazing. That's a picture of the backyard on the top left. And no, it's not fake. Seriously though: good weather, good food, good friends, and good surf. Perfect vacation. Of course we didn't get any pics of our friends cuz I suck, but we got a few of their cute kids. Thanks to the Bowens, the Kontoes', the Lees, the Loveridges, the Thomanders, the Smiths, and the Speeds for showing us a great time. And thanks to the island for showing us aloha!

Rozzi had so much fun with Grandma she didn't even know we were gone! And when we got back she learned all kinds of new tricks! Like how to hum the ABC song, how to turn on the tub and brush her teeth from the faucet, how to draw, how to say "Car", how to eat all her cereal without spilling, and how to go down slides like a pro!

And by the time Grandma was ready to go home, I think they were both pretty exhausted! Thanks Grandma! You're the best!

Remember back in 2010? Yeah, well I'm a few weeks late but here's a few pics from our trip to Utah. And I'm happy to report after going to the airport on the wrong day and getting stuck on the runway in a snowstorm for two hours with a baby and Jeff getting stuck in Tahoe after a 10 hour drive, we made it home in one piece...kinda.

Oh, and yes, she was on the naughty list. Still is.

For my birthday we spent the weekend in Tahoe (babyless) and it was Uh-Mazing! We stayed in the Village condos at Squaw Valley right at the bottom the lift complete with fireplace, kitchen, heated floors, etc. The village had like 20 amazing restaurants right down stairs and seriously the best pizza of my life. Or maybe it was just because we were skiing and food always tastes amazing after skiing. The snow was not quite Utah snow, but it was still a fun day with beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. And we even snuck in some couch cuddling in front of the fireplace and TV watching during our lunch break. Such a reeeelaaaaxing trip!

You've got exquisite taste which includes a love for avocados, tofu, blueberries, and of course fruit roll-ups. You've mastered the straw, the crab walk, the shoe-lick, and the clap. You're least favorite things in the world are touching grass, getting your face wiped, and holding still, especially in church and on airplanes. You've got some serious 'tude and some awesome dance moves. You don't mess around and nobody messes with you. Your favorite words are dada and mama in that order. You can also growl like a wolverine and might as well be a wild beast for all I know. You love riding on Dad's shoulders, and getting chased around the house. We took a last minute trip to Pismo Beach for the 4th of July and this girl had the time of her life with her new BFF, Emma! We had a blast too and even managed to slip in a surf session while she took a nap! All I can say is - wetsuits, NECESSARY! That water is COLD!!!!

She wasn't too sure about the fireworks, but once we gave her some strawberry shortcake she was cool. And after staying up so late she even slept through half the firework show exploding right outside her window. Way too much fun!!! We're bummed it's over!

Forget lunch, shopping, and pedicures. The babies had something else in mind. And as you can see, they were pretty stoked about it.

I'm pretty sure she weighs a hundred pounds. We had a little picnic on a big rock in the river. It involved a lot of baby food. Some diaper changing. And the moms sharing a PB&J. We do it classy. We made it to the waterfall this year. Last year, not so much. We were pregnant. And no, my arm is not really that big. It's an optical illusion.
The leaning over one side was not helping my comfort level.
Nothin' like takin a snooze in the middle of the hike. That's just how B rolls.
And we even had enough gas to get home! Although I would have loved to get stuck in the wilderness for hours with two high maintenance chicks and an empty bottle of formula! Next year check the gas light C! And maybe we'll even have some more little dudes to bring along. A Kelty Kids Pack in the back, a Bjorn in the front. I could totally do it.

E-Basics 101

So you want to know what the biggest reaction to any of my blog postings has been?? - "Hey, I didn't know you liked Country music!??" Apparently people don't know anything about me. I'm not really one to talk about myself a lot and I'm usually too lazy to do anything but post pictures. So I thought I would fill you in with a little "Things you might not know" list. Warning: this could be boring and there will be no pictures so you may want to stop reading here..... but for all the rest of you house wives with nothing else to do during nap time, here goes:

1) Yes, I do like Country music. Specifically Tim Mcgraw. But now I have 2 pre-set stations of it in the car and Zac Brown Band is my favorite Pandora station.

2) I have held numerous random jobs throughout my life starting with 3 paper routes, cabinet-maker, smooothie maker, lifeguard and credit card sales. Yes, i'm that guy - want a free T-shirt? Moving on to cashier, ice cream scooper, time share sales (at a ski resort, free season pass anyone?), secretary, accountant for a trucking company, accountant for an airline (best 9 months ever), and auditor of California's world-class government! Oh and to end it off with a bang - SAHM!

3) I like sports not crafts. Mostly cuz I suck at them. Crafts, not sports, that is. Sorry Ashley, but let's still go hiking.

4) Favorite place in the world, besides Laie, is Lake Pizzzowell. Krissy, still waiting for an invite.

5) Only a few people know this and it is slightly embarassing but my favorite movies are Braveheart and Twister. I can quote both full length features and definitely was going to be a storm chaser or meteorologist until I somehow became an accountant.

6) My other favorite music would have to include Guns N' Roses, ACDC, Jack Johnson, Coldplay, Yanni, AFI, Justin Timberlake, Bob Marley, The Doors, Sublime, RHCP, U2, Radiohead, Death Cab, and Pinback. Can it get any more random?

7) I may or may not have been Student Body Vice President in high school. Which mostly means I wasn't cool enough or coordinated enough to be a cheerleader.

8) Oh yeah, I lived in Hawaii and still live there in my mind and if you don't know that you probably don't know me at all.

9) I used to be a skater. Yes, I can drop in and no, I wasn't a poser. Ok, kind of. But I had some awesome black clothes and purple glitter eyeshadow. Dont' hate.

10) Seriously people? I can't think of anything else. So hopefully you are a little enlightened!

Rocklin is so gorgeous in the spring. It totally reminds me of the hundred acre woods. Green grass, flowers, bunnies hopping all over, horses galloping. I love it. So we went on this super cute hike in Auburn last weekend. I don't think Rozzi's ever been outside so much in her life.

Baby B even made it out of the house! That's her nose peeking out.

That's right. This chica took her very first plane ride to Grandma's house! And can I just ask one question? Who would make an airplane without a baby changing station? I mean really? Really? Luckily the flight was only an hour or else it could have gotten really ugly. But other than that the trip was a success and Rozzi had a blast with all her grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. And we even got a spring snow storm! Yay! Snow!

and it wasn't pretty. but i had to do it for Rozzi's bud, Berkeley. so after my kitchen table (and floor) were covered in glitter, paper, and glue for a week, this is what i came up with . . . and now i remember why i don't do stuff like this.
but i must say it turned out to be a pretty cute baby shower, thanks to this masterpiece by Lindsey,

We've been going crazy in our tan house with our tan carpet and our tan walls and our tan couches. I don't think the 2 months of dark cloudy foggy rainy days helped either. Booooring!
So we had to get out.

We went to the Maverick's competition a couple of weeks ago which would have been awesome if we didn't show up 3 hours after it was over. But apparently a giant wave took out the crowd and has been on the news for the last week, so luckily we missed out on that one. It was still super fun though.

And we fin.all.y went skiing. Shreaded the park. Tore up some boxes. Whatev.

Rozzi's 3 Month Update

Rozzi is 3 months old today. That's 1/4 of a year already. Here's her stats:

-At her 2 month appointment she was 10 lbs and 23.5 inches. So I'm guessing she's around 12 lbs by now. Chunkster.

-Her favorite color is pink, I think.

-She loooooves the tub and can swim like a frog.

-Her nicknames are: Boogaloo, chicken kicker, nug bug, snugster, papparozzi, rasta rozzi....

-Her eyes are blue....or sometimes greenish....or maybe just grey.... I don't know.

-I dare her to stay awake in the car, swing, or stroller. Betcha can't.

-Her favorite food is her hand.

-She can say hi. She can.

-I'm pretty sure she's right handed. Her loss.

-She haaaates the booger sucker and dad picking her nose with a Qtip.

-I think she's starting to fake cry.

-She has to sleep with crickets and frogs chirping all night. I like it too. Sounds like we're camping.

-She has the typical baby mullet that I want to shave off.

-She has super long eyelashes and poor little goopy eye.

-Her favorite band is the Black Eyed Peas.

-She is the bomb.com

For Thanksgiving Jeff really wanted to rent a beach house in Southern California. Maybe just a little shack on the sand where we could hang out and surf all day. Well, apparently, after like a 2 month search on Craigslist, beach houses are usually huge, expensive, require a week stay, and aren't even on the beach. He was soooo bummed. But we seriously had to get out of here so we decided to just cruise down the 1 and see what happened.

First stop: Big Sur and the 17 mile drive

Rozzi looks like a boy. She needs a bow. There's flowers on her pants I promise.
Don't let this cute Chevron fool you. Gas was over $4. Waterfall on da beach. Nature!

Next stop: Pismo

A little Marie Callendar's for Thanksgiving dinner (semi-decent) and a stroll down the pier at night.

Destination #3: Ventura
We rolled up and saw this glorious sight: RINCON

Glassy meat monsters just consistently dumping perfect barrels! All the sudden it was like wait, where's Jeff? Who's Jeff? Oh, you mean Wu? The diggler came alive! He got the stoke back! Rozzi got kind of scared from all the screaming! But....since there was like a hundred people out he decided to settle for this surf spot just down the street:

What!? More perfect barrels? What is this place?

Destination #4: San Clemente . . . bad idea

After some amazing surf we kept charging down the 1 to San Clemente. I would strongly recommend not driving on the 1 between Santa Monica and Long Beach. After a couple hours and about 300 stop lights, I was starving, Jeff was salty, Rozzi was over it, and we were all super tired. Too Heavy! But we charged it and woke up to this beautiful little town. A little Surfin' Donuts for breakfast anyone? Brent? Katie? Hit up the Rip Curl outlet and then back to Ventura. Had to hit up Rincon before dark.

Last stop: Rincon

Best idea ever. We walked up and 3 people were in the oval office shaking hands with the president! As Buster would say it was off the hook! And guess who paddled up right next to the Wu? Yep, the man himself. Kelly. Just workin' the 9 to 5 shooting his next video. What? Somebody sprayed me in the face? Oh excuse me Dane Reynolds. Was I in your way? Needless to say my husband can die a happy man. His life is complete. Don't think we didn't get pictures, cuz we did. But you gotta be kidding me.... ALL BLURRY!!!! All 5 of them! Tragedy!!!

Oh well. Good times. Now it's back to the 9 to fiver :( and yes, i am posting this at 5:30 in the morning and i have been up since 2:00 a.m.

Ludakrissy and A-train came to visit for the weekend. There were some fall activities, a couple steaks got taken down, maybe some crossword puzzles....

Beans + Cheese = Crazy Delicious!

This is our new favorite thing! I found it on Heather's blog, which always has good stuff on it. You have to try it!

WHITE CHILI

2 Tbs. olive oil
2 medium onions, chopped
1 - 4 oz can chopped green chilies
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp. cumin
1 1/2 tsp. oregano
4 chicken breats, cooked and shredded
5 cups chicken broth
3 - 16 oz cans of white beans, undrained
3 cups Monterey Jack Cheese, shredded (Pepper Jack is even better!)

Directions:
Saute onions, green chilies and garlic in olive oil and add spices. Combine beans, broth, and chicken with onion mixture. Stir over medium heat and gradually add the grated jack cheese. Stir until all cheese is melted and combined well with other ingredients. Heat to desired temperature. *I would halve it if you are only cooking for 2 people, but don't halve the spices!

Merced Gateway Triathlon

He just doesn't stop! Energizer bunny up in hur! The week after his hundred mile ride Jeff did a triathlon in Merced. He was pretty excited because it was held at the college where he played waterpolo all through high school. Oh the good old days...back in the '90s!

The first event was an 800 meter swim. Here's a great shot of Jeff's arm! It's the one with the watch on it.

Then there was a 28 mile bike ride. Don't worry he got 3 flats on the ride...BUZZ KILL!!!
It ended with a 6 mile run - piece of cake! JK... I was dying after 20 minutes of Jillian Michael's workout video today! (Remember I had a baby though? ...Yeah, I did.) Don't think he didn't take 3rd place cuz he did! Rozzi was so proud!

100 miles . . .

uphill, both ways, in the snow.....jk. But this weekend Jeff did think it would be a good idea to do the 100 mile Century ride at Lake Tahoe. That's after having a baby two weeks earlier, getting zero sleep, and working 12 hour days all week, then getting up at 4:30 to drive to Tahoe and riding from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Needless to say somebody needs a nap! But it does look like a pretty cool ride!
